October to November. The monsoon has just finished, the countryside is still green, and the days are warm without being hot. The Pushkar Camel Fair falls here. Prices are high and hotels fill early.
December to January. The coldest and clearest. Days around 22 degrees, desert nights close to zero. Peak season, peak prices, and worth it.
February to March. Our own favourite. Warm days, comfortable nights, fewer people than December, and Holi in March.
April to June. Forty degrees and climbing. Only Mount Abu makes sense, and hotel rates halve.
July to September. Some rain, dramatic light, empty forts and the lowest prices of the year. Udaipur in the monsoon is genuinely beautiful.
