Jaipur and the Hadoti Circuit

Jaipur first, then south into Hadoti — Bundi, Kota and Jhalawar, where the stepwells and painted rooms are usually yours alone.

Most of Rajasthan’s visitors never go south of Jaipur. Hadoti is where the stepwells are deepest, the wall paintings best preserved, and the queue at the gate is usually nobody.

Day by day

  • Day 1 — Jaipur. Arrive, settle in, and take the old city in the evening when the pink walls warm up.
  • Day 2 — Jaipur to Bundi. Amber in the morning, then the road south. Bundi by evening.
  • Day 3 — Bundi. The palace murals, Taragarh, and Raniji ki Baori. A full day here is not too much.
  • Day 4 — Kota and Jhalawar. The Chambal waterfront at Kota, then on to Jhalawar and Jhalrapatan.
  • Day 5 — Return. Back to Jaipur, or onward from Kota by train if that suits you better.

Good to know

Bundi and Jhalawar are small towns. The hotels are good but not large, so rooms are worth confirming early in the winter months.
